Long sail fabric for hallways, corridors and narrow room solutions
A long sail fabric is particularly suitable for corridors and hallways where linear ceiling lights, light strips or light bars run over several metres. Especially in these areas, technical luminaires often appear cool. The sail fabric creates a more even light distribution and gives the ceiling a clearer, more residential structure.
The ceiling sail fabric is mounted above the light source and integrated harmoniously into the ceiling surface. This noticeably changes the lighting effect: the light is distributed more softly, harsh light edges are reduced and the corridor appears more balanced and pleasant.
Even light distribution along the ceiling
In corridors and hallways with continuous ceiling lighting, the light can quickly appear very functional. The long sail fabric ensures a more uniform flow of light along the ceiling and contributes to a more balanced overall appearance.
Also suitable for large rooms with parallel sail strips
In addition to classic applications in corridors, a long sail fabric can also be used in larger rooms. When several narrow sail fabrics are mounted parallel in strips, linear ceiling lights can be visually structured and grouped. The lighting appears more organised while the technical character of the luminaires recedes into the background.
Reducing glare and distributing light evenly
Directly emitting light strips or linear luminaires are often perceived as glaring. The textile sail fabric diffuses the light and reduces perceived brightness without restricting the function of the lighting. The light appears softer and more evenly distributed, which is particularly pleasant in passage areas.
Positive effects on room acoustics
In addition to the lighting effect, the fabric sail offers further functional properties. The material can slightly break sound waves and thus positively influence room acoustics. This creates an overall harmonious impression in residential areas as well as in offices, practices or public corridors.

Material and properties
The long sail fabric is made of a textile material and is designed for indoor use. It is not a thin photo or diffuser fabric, but a material specifically developed for ceiling applications.
- Material: 51% polyester (Trevira CS), 49% polyester
- Permanently flame-retardant textile material
- Fire protection class B1, flame retardant
Fire protection and areas of use
The sail fabric is permanently flame retardant. The flame-retardant properties are embedded in the fibre and remain intact even after washing. In public areas, such textiles are mandatory and must comply with the requirements of DIN 4102 B1.
Ceiling mounting and tensioning system
The sail fabric is mounted to the ceiling using the supplied tensioning system. This allows secure installation and even tensioning of the sail fabric over its entire length.
- Spacers: height approx. 3.5 cm, colour silver, cylindrical shape
- Springs for tensioning the sail fabric
All sail fabrics are supplied with round springs. If required, these can be individually adjusted. By slightly bending the springs with pointed pliers, the tension can be fine-tuned so that the sail fabric fits optimally.
Colour options
The long sail fabric is available in white or cream. Both colour options are neutral and can be integrated into various room and lighting concepts.
Cleaning and care of the sail fabric
The long sail fabric is easy to care for; however, a few instructions should be observed to maintain the material and its properties over time.
- The sail fabric can be machine washed at a maximum of 30°C
- Please do not use ironing spray or chemical additives.
- Iron the sail fabric when slightly damp, using medium temperature and sufficient steam.
- Avoid excessive heat, as the material may shrink.
The flame-retardant properties of the sail fabric remain intact even after washing, ensuring long-lasting functionality and durability.
